The reduction of discharges of environmentally harmful chemicals to the sea from the petroleum activities on the Norwegian Shelf continues.
According to the operating companies' annual reports on emissions to air and discharges to sea, there was a significant reduction in NmVOC in 2006 and a slight reduction in CO2 and NOx emissions.
Reporting takes place in parallel to the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate and the Petroleum Safety Authority Norway via EnvironmentWeb. Details : Scandoil

An oil refinery would jeopardize Costa Rica's environment as planned by a Chinese company known as a polluter, environmental groups said Saturday.

Oilwatch Mesoamerica and other groups warned that recent agreements between China and Costa Rica included a refinery built by China Petroleum Corporation.......
