Oil & Gas Tecnology Update, News, reports...

Monday, June 18, 2007

The TRACEBACK programme which started in January 2007 targets to establish a food traceability system with:

Objective connections between the product flow and the information flow along the food chains.

Information management system which fits to existing technologies present along the diverse players of food chain from the production of raw materials to the sale of products. The system needs to be open for upcoming technologies, without imposing any technology change.

Low costs. Traceability needs to count for no more than 1-2% of the product cost.
The new traceability system will integrate EU and non-EU emerging technologies from on-going projects into a single framework. The pilots will be implemented in two dominant agro-food sector, feed / dairy and tomato.
